As I make my first post for the year 2018, I have planned to make it on a positive note. It is not time to reflect on the past but to focus on what is ahead of us. We all should put failures aside and move on with something that is more rewarding. Failure is an event, not a person. It is a fear of failure, not failure, that cripples us. I am still amazed how time flies and here we are in 2018. It is a frightening experience without knowing it and sooner we will be reaching the end of the year and began to reflect on where our precious time has gone.
To focus more on serious note, former president of United States of America – Abraham Lincoln, one of the power-house countries in the world have experience failure one after the other for almost 28 years. He had a nervous breakdown in 1833 and tried to break into politics but was defeated time and time again. These failures did not stop him from fighting on, despite, his attempt for success many times. It was not until 1860, that he was elected as the president of United States and went down in history as one of the greatest president of America of all time. He then quote: “Government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the Earth”. – Abraham Lincoln
Here it shows, that success is not the absence of failure, it is having the determination to never quit because ‘quitters never win and winners never quit’. We as an individual, we have achieved anything that is worthwhile in our life and not only experience failure but experienced it many times. Like Abraham Lincoln, he never was a failure because he never gave up. One of the greatest fear that we humans have is fear of failure. No matter how hard we work for success, if our thoughts are saturated with the fear of failure, it will kill our efforts, neutralise our endeavour and make success impossible.
It is interesting to know that, many high profile and successful business entrepreneurs, movie stars or high profile sport people not only brought successful to them over-night but they have worked hard to overcome that failure to be successful. As I reflect on this, I began to question myself that we are afraid of failure and change. One has to be determined to follow their dream and passion.
As the new year begins, I hope that this will be an inspiration to all and focus more on the positive path rather than negative path that leads to failure.
From a personal perspective: Success and Failure go hand-in-hand. We may have tried to gain success many times but we have failed again and again. These failures has made us determine to bring and find success in our life. I have failed many times during my education years but I have worked harder to gain success and overcome that failure.
